About National Chengchi University

National Chengchi University (NCCU) was founded in 1927. It is the university with the best reputation in the field of humanities and social sciences and second to none in East-Asian, Chinese, and Cross-Strait studies.


About NCCU International Summer School

The NCCU International Summer School (ISS) provides English-Taught Academic Courses in the fields of Cross-Strait Relations, Politics, Technology, History and Culture, Urban Development in East Asia, Digital Communication and Virtual Reality. Participants can gain meaningful insights while strengthening the global competence.

For HKUST-nominated exchange students:
  • Must take 4 courses from English-Taught Academic Program of at least 4 consecutive week's duration with Chinese Language Program being optional.
For HKUST-nominated partnership students:
  • Must take course(s) from English-Taught Academic Program to form a study program of at least 4 consecutive week's duration with Chinese Language Program being optional.


Program Date

29 June 2026 to 8 August 2026 (6 weeks)

Notes:

  • Host Institutions may provide orientation activities for students, with some mandatory, which you should attend. You are required to pay attention to the host institution's arrival information and arrive in time.
  • You should only depart after completion of the program (i.e. finishing all final examinations and/or assessments, both compulsory and optional ones).

 

Fees

Program package fees will be different for HKUST-nominated exchange and partnership students. HKUST-nominated exchange students will have the tuition fee waived. Regardless of the mode of participation, HKUST students will bear the costs for accommodation, meals, travel, visa, insurance, personal expenses and all other costs incurred by the program.

HKUST students must apply through the Office of Global Learning. Individual direct application to the host institution will not be accepted. You are eligible to apply for the program if you:

Visa Information

In general, it is required to apply for a visitor visa for entry to Taiwan using the Admission Letter issued by NCCU. When registering online, please be sure to mark whether you need the Letter of Admission or not. 

Students with People's Republic of China passports must receive Taiwan Entry Permits approved by National Immigration Agency. There is no guarantee that Entry Permit will be issued.


Health Insurance

HKUST students who take part in the University's exchange programs will be covered by the University's Travel Insurance Plan. Please CLICK HERE for details.


Accommodation

HKUST students must stay in one of the accommodation options offered by the host institution (if applicable). If you choose not to stay in any of them, you must obtain a pre-approval from HKUST by emailing OGL at study.abroad@ust.hk.
